The Silent Stoning
Jeeti Pooni has persevered through the arduous journey of a long tried sexual assault case. Twelve years ago Jeeti broke her silence and because of her unwavering determination and resilience, the Supreme Court of British Columbia has found her perpetrator guilty.
In her debut book, The Silent Stoning, (publishing later in 2020) Jeeti takes you through her story of betrayals, the confusion of being dowsed in the shame and blame of incest, and how she managed to survive her captor who held her mind and body hostage for over a decade.
Growing up in the 70’s in a small town in British Columbia, Canada, Jeeti is a child radiating beauty, love, and trust. She is mesmerized by Bollywood movies and loves it all; the actors, vibrant clothing, jewelry, singing, dancing and the promise of love. Her trust and concept of true unconditional love is broken, manipulated and completely shattered when she is sexually abused as a child and raped by a person her family trusts and loves.
Written in a series of letters to Little Jeeti and her loved ones, this is a powerful non-fiction account of Jeeti’s courage, resilience and hope of finding her way back to herself and true love to live the life she had dreamed of as a little girl.
Jeeti is advocating for change of the criminal justice system as she continues to provide a voice for the voiceless and passionately inspire lives.
